My Grunge Guitar Woes

Thanks for stopping by the blog and reading. It’s really righteous of you all to take the time out of your day to read all about our lives. Today’s blog is brought to you by I, Martin.

So, I am finding myself in a bit of a dilemma. I got a new guitar. And while for many musicians this would be a good thing, it is kind of a bummer for me. You see, I really want a grungy looking guitar to match the style of the band, music and my clothing. However, I do not want to do anything that breaks the new guitar or negatively alters its sound.

I was thinking about painting it, but I am afraid that the paint won’t properly adhere because of the finish on the guitar. I want the guitar to look grungy, but not like a cheap child’s guitar. I also thought about sanding the guitar down to create a worn look and feel to it, but then I worry about this looking uneven. What if some of the finish comes off, and not all of it. Then I have a guitar with shiny patches which would look unbelievably gross.

So as of right now, I am feeling depressed and in a woe is me mood. I do not know what to do about the guitar and how to alter it so that it looks grungy and worn, without looking like trash. If anyone has any suggestions or has completed a project like this, please let me know how you did it in the comments below. Thanks!
